One movie genre I’m not a huge fan of is the Gagster/Mob Movie genre.
That said, I have seen some good ones like Goodfellas (1990) and The Untouchables (1987).
Of all the gangster movies I’ve seen though, this is one of my favourites!
Gangster Squad (2013)
It’s different to a lot of others in that it’s more stylised and less gritty and violent like the Scorsese type films.
Set in 1949 Gangster Squad is a fictional account of a carefully put together team of cops (similar to The Untouchables), tasked with bringing down mobster, Mickey Cohen and his crime ring in Los Angeles.
Starring Josh Brolin (No Country for Old Men, Ryan Gosling (Blade Runner 2049), Emma Stone (Zombieland), Sean Penn (Mystic River) and Nick Nolte (Warrior) this is well worth a watch whether you like gangster movies or not. 👍
