The 'Burbs (1989)

The Burbs (1989)

I loooove this film! It’s quirky, has a great cast and is just hilarious!

It was also one of Tom Hanks’ last out and out comedies before moving into more serious roles.

If you somehow haven’t seen it, this is what it’s about:

Ray Peterson (Hanks) is on vacation and just wants to hang around his suburban house in his pyjamas for a week. However, when the Klopeks, a creepy new family with strange habits move into the neighbourhood, a series of odd happenings (including the disappearance of an elderly neighbour) turn his relaxing vacation into a paranoid nightmare.

By far my favourite character in this movie is Tom Hanks’ neighbour Art Weingartner, played by Rick Ducommun (Groundhog Day). He’s hilarious!

Also starring the late Carrie Fisher (Star Wars), Bruce Dern (The Hateful Eight) and Corey Feldman (The Lost Boys), The 'Burbs is a hilarious movie from a great era of film making that for me gets better with each watch. 👌
